This tutorial has been written for personal backup of your own purchased DVD's only.
Distribution of copied DVD's is illegall and is not condoned in any shape or form from the author. The author
is not resposible for what others do with the knowledge gained from this tutorial.
1.) If you haven't already done this, put the DVD into the drive.
2.) FIre up CladDVD.
NOTE - For all you Win2k users you may need to manually authorize the DVD before
starting Clad. So if clad is crashing, simply start PowerDVD, and play a couple seconds
of your movie.
Should be all good now.
3.) Using the Decrypt Files button:
First lets get CladDVD all set up for our needs.
Click the Directory Menu button and browse to a directory to decrypt the files. Make sure that the drive
you are decrypting to has plenty of space.
Next, click the Extra Settings buttons. See pictures for easy set-up.
Now, you are looking for files called .vob, which stands for Video Object files. Normally
the main movie spans over 4,5, sometimes more .vob files. Once you've found the largest group selcect
VTS_XX_1.VOB (Yes, that's 01 not 00) to VTS_XX_the largest number.VOB and hit decrypt files.
Little side note here. Windows98 users decode the .ifo files as well. More on this in the next section. But for now,
if you are under Win98 decrypt the .ifo's. If you're under Win2k don't.
So why not just Rip Full DVD?
DVD's are very large. Ripping the entire thing just a waste of time.
So why not just hit DeCrypt Movie?
Decrypt movie will only select the largest group of .VOB files and
begin ripping them. There are other features on DVD's besides movies, as I'm sure you're already aware of.
Like interviews, making of's, and trailers. Normally they only consist of one file or may 2 - 3.
Don't waste your time ripping too small of files. Those are normally just menus for the DVD.
If you do rip these extra features too, they can all be done at once with the Decrypt Files button.
